No, you don't need to already own cryptocurrency to use DPT.
That said, the current deposit method is via stablecoins (USDC or USDT). You can purchase USDC or USDT from any cryptocurrency exchange and then deposit them into your DPT account to get started.
Fiat deposits via card and bank transfer are coming soon, which will let you fund your account directly with traditional currency.
